Chicago Recording Academy’s 2017 Grammy Event Brings Young Voices To Lift Up the City #grammynoms

On Tuesday January 24th, 2017 the Chicago Recording Academy held a Membership Celebration event. The purpose of the event was to highlight the Grammy’s 2017 Midwest Nominees and to also celebrate their dedicated members. The event, which as held at the Chicago Athletic Association, was hosted in true awards show fashion complete with a Red Carpet VIP Reception and a giant Grammy effigy which greeted attendees as they arrived. A plethora of hors d’oeuvres  which were coupled with an open bar and a room full of music industry veterans (as well as newbies) were also highlights from the celebration.  The event was held in the Chicago Athletic Association’s 8th Floor Ballroom.

In addition to the awesome networking, the Chicago Children’s Choir was also present. The choir, which was directed by Josephine Lee (President and Artistic Director of the choir), sang a number of songs including a soulful rendition of the late singer Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come”. As a prelude to their soul-stirring songs, a few choir members gave tribute to the areas of Chicago where they reside by expressing their love of their city through poem.

Below are a few highlights from the event:
